Karawan potassium alum stone is made from mineral salts extracted from natural quarries.

This mineral sulphate was already used thousands of years ago for its astringent, softening and healing properties.
It does not cause any allergy, it contains no perfume, no coloring, no alcohol and can be used daily.
It is an ideal deodorant, it can be applied to different areas to treat such as armpits, hands and feet.
It covers the skin with an invisible film of mineral salts preventing the development of the bacteria responsible
for bad smells.

Karawan Alum stone is currently used as a deodorant for its following properties:
• Astringent, it tightens the pores and reduces perspiration (do not stop)
• Antibacterial, it neutralizes the development of bacteria causing odors.

Using Natural Alum Stone

Solid, it is used wet, applied under the armpits. An invisible film is deposited there,
resulting from dissolved salt. It offers long-term protection. It is also used for canker sores (apply 2 to 3 minutes)
and to calm the razor burn after hair removal or shaving.

In the form of talc, it is powdered in the socks, or directly on the feet and thus prevent perspiration
and relieve fungal infections, fungi and crevices. If it breaks, get the pieces and reduce them to fine powder
and put two pinches in a machine of white linen, to restore it to shine.

There are 2 main categories of Alum stones. It is almost impossible to differentiate them from the eye.

• Synthetic Alum, which is Ammonium Alum. It derives from the chemical industry (nylon industry), it is then re-agglomerated and reconstituted. The aluminum which is present in this stone is not hydrated and can then bind to the skin.

• Potassium Alum or Aluminum Potassium Sulfate, which is a natural stone.

Karawan Alum stone comes from minerals salts of Potassium, which are extracted from natural carries.
Once pieces of crystal are extracted, the natural Alum salts are dissolved into water to wash out impurities and then they are concentrated and dried. Their shape can be rough (natural crystallizing which is irregular) or can be carved and polished to give them a precise look (rectangle of cylinder at Karawan). This process is absolutely natural, without any synthetic step, and nothing is added to the original components of Alum.

This natural Alum stone is a hydrated double Aluminum and Potassium sulfate. Hydrated aluminum is a stable aluminum and therefore does not bind to the skin. The formula is KAI (SO4)2 12 H2O, which is Potassium alum stone (potash alum or potassium alum). Its PH is rather acid - around 3.5. It is a natural mineral which act on the surface of the skin (invisible protecting film). For information, the hydrated aluminum is one of the main components of clay. This product has been used since centuries to purify water, to stabilize colors or to tan leather.
